Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Ottawa held a reception on February 10, 2014 at the premises of the Embassy, celebrating the National Day of the Republic of Serbia.

The Honourable Noël A. Kinsella, Speaker of the Senate, as a Guest of Honour delivered a speech on behalf of the Canadian Parliament. In his address, Speaker of the Senate elaborated on the broader results of last year's visit. He indicated the initiative for the establishing Serbian - Canadian Business Council, possibility of cooperation with the University of Novi Sad, and  widely emphasized importance and contribution of the Serbian community to the development of the Canadian society.

The reception was attended by several Members of Parliament, officials from the Department of Foreign Affaires, Trade and Development, many diplomats from the accredited Diplomatic Missions in Ottawa, significant number of Serbian community representatives, representatives of the Council of the Serbian Orthodox Church “St. Stefan", the Circle of Serbian Sisters "St. Petka", Folk groups Legende and Kolo, Ottawa Serbian Theatre, Honorary Council of the Republic of Serbia in Vancouver, Mr. Peter Vladiković, and other distinguished guests.

On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, Mrs. Mirjana Šešum-Ćurčić, Chargé d'Affaires, a.i., welcomed the guests at the reception.
