Travel documents/Issuance of Biometric Passport

ISSUANCE OF A BIOMETRIC PASSPORT

During the stay abroad, passport serves as proof of the identity of its holder and as proof of his/her being a national of the Republic of Serbia. Passport can only be used by the person to whose name it has been issued. Serbian passports are issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

When applying for a new passport, it is necessary to apply in person. When applying for a child, the presence of a child is also necessary.

Required documents:

  1. The previous Serbian biometric passport,
  2. The proof of your legal stay in Canada (Residence Permit Card, work permit, student visa, Canadian passport)
  3. The consular fee in the amount of 101 CAD must be paid by cash or Money Order payable to the Embassy of Serbia.
  4. Serbian Birth Certificate (Izvod iz matične knjige rođenih), the original or a photocopy, issued recently or the old one,
  5. The proof of Serbian citizenship (Uverenje o državljanstvu R. Srbije), the original or a photocopy, issued recently or the old one,

Srbije), or you should fill out the following form: DodatniPodaciZaBPI.doc

If you need to apply for the biometric passport of Serbia for the first time, since you acquired your Serbian citizenship recently, and you do have the Decision of the Ministry of Interior of Serbia confirming your acceptance into the citizenship of Serbia, it is necessary to start the procedure of registering into Serbian books of vital records. The issuance of a new passport is not possible without the birth certificate issued by Serbian authorities.

When applying for a minor child, it is necessary for both parents to be present at the Embassy, or in case that one parent cannot be present – the written consent signed at the office of Canadian Notary Public. (SaglasnostRoditelja-eng.doc).

The new passport will be issued within two months. The passport can be issued in less than two months if you ask for an urgent procedure and bring the proof of urgency.

Deliverance of the new passport

Passport can be delivered to the person authorized by the applicant in case that the applicant could not be present. In this case, the authorized person is required to bring the following:
