Ambassador Tomašević Hosts Statehood Day Reception in the Parliament of Canada

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, Stefan Tomašević, hosted a reception marking the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia at the Parliament of Canada (Sir John A. Macdonald Building) in Ottawa.

The reception was attended by more than 500 guests, including Parliamentary Secretary for International Trade Yasir Naqvi, members of Parliament, representatives of Canadian institutions, the diplomatic corps, the Serbian Orthodox Church, the business community, and the Serbian diaspora.

In his address, Ambassador Tomašević highlighted the historical significance of Sretenje for Serbian statehood and spirituality, as well as the strong historical ties between Serbia and Canada. He particularly emphasized the importance of the restoration of the direct Belgrade–Toronto air service and the upcoming EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, inviting Canada to participate in this global event.

This was the first time that the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia organized a Statehood Day reception in the premises of the Parliament of Canada.
