Embassy of Serbia Wins Third Place at the Diplomatic Soccer Tournament in Ottawa

The team of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canada won third place at the inaugural Mission Soccer Tournament, held on June 9, 2026, at TD Place in Ottawa and organized by the Young Professionals Network of Global Affairs Canada.

Organized ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico, the tournament brought together diplomatic missions for a celebration of friendship, sportsmanship, teamwork and the global spirit of soccer.

The tournament featured teams representing the diplomatic missions of Serbia, Australia, South Africa, Morocco, Libya, Mexico, Zambia, the United Kingdom, Uganda, Hungary, Brazil, Colombia and the Netherlands, two teams from Japan (following the absence of the U.S. team), as well as a joint team representing Canada, Armenia and Moldova.

In a friendly and competitive atmosphere, the Embassy of Serbia team achieved an excellent result by winning third place, proudly representing Serbia through sportsmanship, teamwork and friendship with colleagues from the diplomatic community in Ottawa.
