The Flag of Serbia Raised in Front of Ottawa City Hall

The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Ottawa, Wilson Lo, representatives of Canada and the diplomatic corps, as well as members of the Serbian community. The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, S. Tomašević, emphasized the significance of Statehood Day as a symbol of courage, freedom, and the democratic aspirations of the Serbian people, stressing that the Serbian flag represents a symbol of identity and unity of all Serbs around the world. He recalled the historical alliance between Serbia and Canada and highlighted the contribution of the Serbian community to strengthening relations between the two countries, stating that the spirit of Serbia and patriotism know no borders.
