Serbia–Canada Business Forum Held in Toronto: A New Phase of Economic Cooperation Between the Two Countries

Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Canada, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, with the support of Air Serbia, the Serbia–Canada Business Forum was held in Toronto on May 26, 2026.

The Forum represented the most significant business gathering between the two countries.The event brought together 28 companies from the Republic of Serbia and more than 40 Canadian companies and organizations, with the aim of establishing new business connections, strengthening investment cooperation, and developing long-term partnerships.Special focus was placed on the sectors of information technology and artificial intelligence, energy, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture, and environmental protection.The opening session featured remarks by Mr. Damjan Jović, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia; the Honourable Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines of Ontario; H.E. Stefan Tomašević, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada; H.E. Michelle Cameron, Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Serbia; and Mr. Ned Kuruc, Member of Parliament of Canada and Chair of the Canada–Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group. The speakers emphasized that the restoration of Air Serbia’s direct flight between Belgrade and Toronto after 34 years represents an important step in further connecting the two countries — not only by strengthening tourism and people-to-people ties, but also by creating new opportunities for the development of economic cooperation. During the Forum, Serbia’s potential as an investment and technology destination was presented. A special presentation on AMD’s experience in Serbia was delivered by Mr. Andrej Zdravković, Senior Vice President at AMD. He presented AMD’s development activities in Serbia and highlighted the importance of Serbia’s engineering talent, expertise, and innovation potential. The Forum continued with numerous business-to-business meetings between Serbian and Canadian companies, during which participants discussed opportunities for concrete cooperation, new investments, and the implementation of joint projects. The Serbia–Canada Business Forum represents another important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and confirms the growing interest in cooperation in the fields of innovation, advanced technologies, energy, and investment.
