Serbian Ambassador Meets Vancouver Mayor: Cooperation, EXPO 2027, and Initiatives to Strengthen Ties

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, Stefan Tomašević, met with the Mayor of the City of Vancouver, Ken Sim, on April 17, 2026.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of experiences, particularly in the context of contemporary challenges faced by major cities. They also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, sustainable development, and urban planning.
Ambassador Tomašević briefed Mayor Sim on the organizational aspects of the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, its significance for Serbia, the region, as well as for participating partners. He expressed hope that Canada would be among the exhibitors and that Belgrade would have the opportunity to host a large number of Canadian visitors.
The meeting also addressed the initiative of Honorary Consul Predrag Vladiković to name a street in Vancouver after Nikola Tesla, as well as potential cooperation regarding the revival of the Serbian Film Festival.
The interlocutors agreed that there is significant potential for deepening cooperation, particularly at the local level, and expressed readiness to continue dialogue in the period ahead.
