“Serbian Days” in Winnipeg

07. Jun 2026.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, Stefan Tomasevic, visited Winnipeg on June 6 and 7, 2026, where he took part in the “Serbian Days” event, the most significant gathering of the Serbian community in Manitoba.

During the visit, Ambassador S. Tomasevic met with the priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church “Saint Sava,” Georgije Tubonjic, the president of the Serbian Cultural and Educational Society (SCES), Predrag Stankovic, and representatives of the Serbian community. The discussions emphasized the importance of preserving national and cultural identity, as well as strengthening ties with the homeland.

This year’s event was marked by cooperation between the Serbian and Greek communities. During a joint service at the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Demetrios, Greek Orthodox priest Nikolaos Tambakis welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, S. Tomasevic, and highlighted the traditional friendship between the Serbian and Greek peoples, which is also nurtured in Canada.

CBC Manitoba also reported on the event, including a statement by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia, S. Tomasevic, emphasizing that Serbia and Canada will mark 85 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, and pointing to the importance of the renewed direct Air Serbia flight route Belgrade–Toronto, with the possibility of further travel to Winnipeg and other Canadian cities via connecting flights.

Congratulations to the organizers, volunteers, and all participants on the successfully organized fourth edition of the “Serbian Days in Winnipeg” event, which once again confirmed the strength and unity of the Serbian community in Canada.
